Code Kids
Code Kids is a student-led project that was founded in hopes to teach python programming to underprivileged students. The project aims to spread knowledge and open new doors to oppurtunities that might have never been offered. Code Kids has a group of volunteers that attend a São Paulo public school every week to teach a group of 6th to 8th graders.
Other than giving lessons, Code Kids also strives to make sure the school has the suitable technological equipment, such as working computers and projectors. The project has had fundraising events so that financial aid could be provided to the school to be invested in advancing technology.
Previous Projects:
1
In 2020, Code Kids raised almost R$ 14,000 that went towards the purchase of new projectors and fixing computers in classrooms.
2
During the pandemic, Code Kids created a youtube channel and regularly uploaded lessons on coding when they were unable to physically attend the school
Upcoming projects
This year, Code Kids hopes to start a new branch of the project to help students with maths. They also aim to raise more money to buy new computers for the school so more students can learn to program and increase their familiarity with different online tools.
